doPDF is a free PDF converter for both personal and commercial use. Using doPDF you can create PDF files by selecting the "Print" command from virtually any application. With one click you can convert your Microsoft Excel, Word or PowerPoint documents or your emails and favorite web sites to PDF files.

doPDF6.2 installs itself as a virtual PDF printer driver so after a successful installation will appear in your Printers and Faxes list. To convert to PDF, you just have to print the document to doPDF, the free pdf converter. Open a document (with Microsoft Word, WordPad, NotePad or any other software), choose Print and select doPDF. It will ask you where to save the PDF file and when finished, the PDF file will be automatically opened in your default PDF viewer. There are 2 very good sources of inexpensive, high quality stock photos, Flash and movies, each with their own particular strengths. I found it best to join both. They are similar in cost and pay as you go. Good quality photos start at $1 and they are all royalty free (They have already obtained the model release forms, so you don't need to worry about law suits) The links are BigStockPhoto and iStockPhoto. You can purchse $20 worth of credits at a time.

It's easy for Windows users to forget that WinZip isn't the only file-compression utility in the world. Like its better-known competitors, the free 7-Zip unpacks a host of archive formats, including ZIP, TAR, GZ, and its own 7z format. Unlike WinZip, though, it can create TAR and GZ archives, which are commonly used on Unix and Linux systems.
Advanced options include the ability to create solid and self-extracting archives, and to adjust the compression level and password protection. The program also has a command line module. Though the main interface is overly simple and looks like it was designed for Windows 95, it's not hard to use and fairly self-explanatory. The context menu options, which include "testing" an archive, indicate that 7-Zip should be taken seriously.
7-Zip is fine for casual users with a bit of computer savvy, but it's especially well-suited for developers and anyone else who moves between the Windows and Linux/Unix worlds.

I have never found a free graphics editor that I liked. You can try Paint.net as a free download.

You can save about $500 by getting Elements instead of the full edition of PhotoShop and retain most of the essential features. You simply can't edit any picture with a .psd extension without it. It supports Layers which is the state of the art way to edit. Any other program will just frustrate you. If you are truly an artist then go for the full edition of PhotoShop CS4.
